Cafe au lait BOWL

bre6.jpg
Do you know what this bowl for?

bre10.jpg
It is called ‘cafe au lait bowl’ … In French, they say ‘bol a café au lait
As the name suggests, it is used for cafe au lait.
Also you can guess that the bowl originally comes from France.
It is said that in France each member of family has their own bowl … Is that true?

cafe11.jpg
There are various designs, shapes and colors of cafe au lait bowls.

ore99.jpg
It is not too much to say that antique cafe au lait bowls are artistic works.

Actually, cafe au lait bowls have practical function.
The bowls can be used as bowls for soups, salads and desserts.
‘What is useful is beautiful’

ore3000.jpg ore1000.jpg
Ken and Melissa from Melbourne, Australia enjoyed having a breakfast with cafe au lait bowl.

ore14.jpg
It was their first time to try cafe au lait bowl.

Just looking at a cafe au lait bowl makes me dream about a life in Paris.

Le baiser de l'hôtel de ville (Kiss by the Hôtel de Ville) by Robert Doisneau
Just looking at the photo of a couple kissing in the streets of Paris makes me happy somehow.

Why don't you start your new day with a cafe au lait bowl at our cafe?

DEBUT at CAFE

ca1.JPG ca2.JPG
I am a staff member of Sakura hotel Ikebukuro, but today I made a debut at Sakura cafe Ikebukuro.

ca13.JPG ca14.JPG
Which do you like better, with glasses or without glasses?
You do not care, do you?

ca10.JPG
A view from the bar … a new experience.
Beers (on the right) are very seductive.

ca11.JPG
Behind the bar … Mr. Nishimura … nice guy!
ca5.JPG
My heart was beating so fast, but Mikity was kind enough to help me out.

On my first day, I learned a lot and I saw things in different ways.

Physically It was much harder than I expected.
At the same time, I realize that I am getting old.

By the way, have you seen these movies?
ca10000.JPG ca9000.JPG

They make me want to go to the cafe.

We love Japanese! We love Italy!

Last night we had two events at Sakura Cafe, 'Free Japanese lesson' and 'Travelers Night'
We were so happy that a lot of people joined our event.

For Japanese Lesson, many foreigners came to study.

Photo5_o.jpg

Everyone enjoyed studying and talking together in Japanese.

Photo8_o.jpg

Photo6_o.jpg

I was impressed by the attitude of students. They were studying seriously.
I could know many foreigners are interested in learning Japanese and love Japan so much.
I'm so happy about that.

Photo4_o.jpg

After studying Japanese, we had Travelers Night!! The theme of last night is Italy!!!!!!!!!!!
Buongiorno(^▽^) Let's enjoy talking, drinking, eating!

Photo3_o.jpg

We served Italian wine, beer, cocktail, and Italian food!!

Photo2_o.jpg

I tried Italian Surfer and Italian Ice tea, Italian Surfer tastes pineapple. It has sweet and sour fragrance. I loved it but I drank quickly...

Hi Cheese!!!! Thank you so much for joining our party!

Photo1_o.jpg

We met some of 'Asakatsu' members. Every Sunday morning they gather at Sakura Cafe and enjoy Breakfast and talking together. I wish I could join Asakatsu...

Attractive Odaiba!

Have you ever been to Odaiba? Odaiba is very nice place for sightseeing, dating, taking a walk...
Today I introduce some places.

I like 'Daiba 1cho-me Syotengai' at Decks shopping mall(4th floor).
They duplicates olden Japan.

CIMG0005.jpg

CIMG0022.jpg

Long time ago,Shinkansen was our dream..

CIMG0011.jpg

Next to Daiba 1cho-me Syotengai, there is Takoyaki Museum.
There are many Takoyaki shops and they make fusion Takoyaki, not normal Takoyaki.

CIMG0023.jpg

CIMG0025.jpg

I chose Italian Takoyaki!! I tried Mentaiko(seasoned cod roe) Takoyaki and Ponzu Takoyaki.
'Ponzu' looks like soy sauce but tastes sour. I prefer Ponzu Takoyaki.

CIMG0028.jpg

By the way, I found Takoyaki Ramune and Kimchi Ramune.

CIMG0078.jpg

I tried but I cannot comment anything about taste...
You should buy them just for fun, not for drink!

Are you interested in Onsen (Hot spring) ??? But Onsen is far from Tokyo…how can I go?
Don’t worry. You can enjoy Onsen at 'Oedo Onsen Monogatari' in Odaiba.

CIMG0059.jpg

If you have a dog, your dog also can enjoy Onsen at
'Tsunayoshi no Yu'

CIMG0062.jpg

Wow, it's cool!
Next time I will go to Onsen with my dog.

Ski!? Matsuri!? Local foods in Iwate

Last time I introduced my hometown, IWATE(^-^)

So…. this time, I want to introduce events and local food there!!!

Do you like winter sports??

If you visit Iwate in winter, you should try skiing or snowboarding in APPI Resort!!

appi_kogen_ski_resort.jpg

There are 21 courses and the longest course is 5,500m!!!!

appi2.jpg

You can enjoy snow sports between December and beginning of May~!!

http://www.appi.co.jp/foreign_country/english/index.html

In summer, you can see MATSURI (Japanese Festival) anywhere in Japan,

but the most famous Matsuri in Iwate is “Morioka Sansa Odori”!!

sansaodori.jpg

if you want to join it, please visit there in summer :)

Last but not least… I would like to introduce the famous FOOD in Iwate!!!

If you are big eater, you should try WANKO-SOBA in Iwate!!

wannkosoba.jpg

Wanko means “wooden soup bowl” in Japanese, and Soba is black wheat noodles.

If you try Wanko-soba, you have to compete by eating as many bowls as possible!

This is “MORIOKA REIMEN”. It’s not RAMEN…REIMEN is a type of cold noodle soup!

reimen.bmp

The noodle is very chewy, but you will get addicted immediately just like me~ A must try!!

If you can’t go to Iwate, you can taste it in Ginza, Tokyo~!! (“PyongPyongSha” GINZA GLASSE 11th floor)

Thank you!

BOSTON

bs3.jpg
I know you came from Boston

bost3.jpg
coz you are wearing a Boston Red Sox baseball cap.

bs1111.jpg
Romulo and Jessica are from Sweden, but currently live in Boston.

bos5.jpg
Boston Red Sox

nomo2.jpg
Hideo Nomo, a baseball player I respect, played for the Boston Red Sox in 2001 and
nomo4.jpg nomo14.jpg

he threw his second no-hitter on April 4, 2001 against the Baltimore Orioles.
Nomo is only the fourth pitcher to throw a no-hitter in both the American and National Leagues (with Los Angeles Dodgers in 1996).

Nomo and I have something in common.
1. same birthday : August 31st
2. same roots : The Gotō Islands, Nagasaki
3. same Kanji character in name : 英 (Hide)
4. same year : moving to the U.S. in 1995

mat300.jpg
Anyway, this season, 3 Japanese pitchers are playing for Boston Red Sox … Daisuke Matsuzaka, Hideki Okajima and Junichi Tazawa.

ozawa10.jpg ozawa.jpg

Boston and Japanese … I think of Seiji Ozawa who is one of the world's most esteemed conductors and served for 30 years as the music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

BOS1.png
The Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is an orchestra based in Boston, Massachusetts. It is one of the five American orchestras commonly referred to as the "Big Five" and it was founded in 1881.

BOS3.jpg BOS2.jpg
The BSO plays most of its concerts at Boston Symphony Hall.

CHRIS22.jpg
Speaking of the Boston Symphony Hall, I like the Live DVD ‘CHRIS BOTTI IN BOSTON’
Chris Botti, Jazz trumpeter, performed live with the Boston Pops at the Boston Symphony Hall on September 18 and 19, 2008 including the appearances from Josh Groban, Yo-Yo Ma, John Mayer, Katharine McPhee, Sting, Lucia Micarelli and Steven Tyler.

ch400.jpg yo1.jpg
Especially, Cinema Paradiso featuring Yo-Yo Ma is incredible.
